DGN is the native drawing format of Bentley MicroStation, used by some utilities instead of DWG.

DGN is the drawing file format used natively by Bentley MicroStation. Utilities standardized on Bentley maintain their drawings as DGN with levels, cells and seed files; work is drafted to those standards and converted between DGN and DWG as needed.
