Mid-Span Sag

Mid-span sag is how far a conductor droops between two poles, which affects clearance to the ground and other lines.

Mid-span sag is the vertical drop of a conductor at the middle of a span between two support poles. Sag changes with temperature, tension and loading, and it governs mid-span clearance to the ground, to crossings and between attachments. Design and joint-use analysis check mid-span sag to confirm clearances are met across the span, not just at the poles.
