Tangent Pole

A tangent pole is a straight-line pole carrying conductors with no significant change in direction.

A tangent pole supports the line where it runs straight, carrying the conductors without a significant line angle. Because there is little unbalanced horizontal load, tangent structures generally need less guying than angle or dead-end poles — a distinction that matters in pole loading analysis and framing selection.
