Underground distribution carries power through buried cables, ducts and vaults.

Underground distribution is the part of the network built below grade using cables, duct banks, vaults and handholes. Its design covers duct and vault layouts, cable selection and overhead-to-underground transitions, drafted as construction drawings to the utility's standard (CSA C22.3 No. 7 / NESC as applicable).
