GIS (Geographic Information System)
GIS is software for capturing, storing and analysing spatial data such as utility assets and parcels.
A Geographic Information System (GIS) stores and analyses geographic data — utility assets, networks, parcels and roads — with their locations and attributes. In distribution design, GIS platforms such as ArcGIS and QGIS supply the asset and parcel data that is reconciled into a coordinate-true landbase and, through GIS-to-CAD conversion, into design drawings.
