Guying
Guying uses tensioned guy wires and anchors to balance the loads on a pole and keep it stable.
Guying is the use of guy wires — tensioned cables running from the pole to a ground anchor — to counteract unbalanced loads such as line angles, dead-ends and heavy attachments. Correct guying and anchor lead are part of pole design and are verified in pole loading analysis; adding or re-tensioning guys is a common make-ready remedy.
